Jim Breuer, the 2008/2009 Chairman of the Board of the Restaurant Association of Maryland and owner of Maggie's Restaurant, has two things on his to do list while he is at the helm. The first is for a smooth transition with the organizations new CEO and the second is to answer the question: "If the Restaurant Association of Maryland (RAM) was started today, what would it look like?" He has asked for RAM and their Educational Foundation to take a fresh look so that the organization is focus on being relevant to the restaurant industry of Maryland.
To help answer his question the Board of Directors formed a Strategic Planning Steering Committee to help guide and protect the process. The committee is chaired by Rob Beall, Ledo Pizza and includes Eric King, the Crab Shanty; Phil Bowers, Brewer's Alley; Joe Barbera, Aida Bistro & Wine Bar; Henry Pertman, Micros; Craig Sigismondi, Carey Sales & Service and Jordan Naftal, Jordan's Steakhouse.
This is just the steering committee - every single restaurant operator and supplier has a role to play...the Restaurant Association of Maryland is the industry's association and your input is extremely valuable. The committee will make sure that the entire process is transparent and asked that staff set this blog up to share and solicit comments from the industry. Ultimately through a open and sharing process, great data and feedback from the industry Maryland restaurant operators will end up with a best in class association that will be relevant to this sector and answer Jim's question.
Again - if you own or operate a restaurant in Maryland or are one of our many valued suppliers you are part of this process.
